French singer Christine And The Queens dealt with a stalker fan by talking them out of following her.
The 28-year-old, real name Heloise Letissier, was left spooked when a fan obtained her phone number, made nuisance calls and began following her.
However, she ignored advice from her management to avoid contact with the obsessed fan, and tried to reason with her stalker.
"I have empathy for those people because I was in a weird place myself at one point, so I did everything that my manager said don't do," she told ES magazine. "She told me to stop answering the calls, but I felt the need to explain things to her."
The star, who won two prizes at Britain's NME Awards last month (Feb17) and was nominated in the Best International Female Solo Artist category at the BRIT Awards, revealed that she empathises with her more enthusiastic followers.
"They stalk me, but I stalk them as well, really. I don't think I am a pop star, I think I'm a stalker who turned out well, so when I meet them I have a strong sense of empathy," she said.
According to ES magazine editors, the Tilted singer uses her Twitter account to check on the problem fan, who no longer bothers her.
