Actor Christian Slater has shocked organisers of a London boxing gym by signing up for six months of intensive training - in a bid to regain the figure he had as a young Hollywood hunk.

The 34-year-old star is reprising his idol Jack Nicholson's legendary film role in the stage version of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest at this year's (04) Edinburgh Fringe FESTIVAL in Scotland, and he's reportedly desperate to get into shape to spark memories of his early-nineties physique.

So the actor has become a member of GYMBOX in Holborn, central London, for six months of boxing and circuit training exercises.

A source tells Britain's DAILY MIRROR newspaper, "Christian's very conscious of his image. He's currently starring in a stage production of One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest and wants to get back to being as buff as he was in his early twenties."
