The Dark Knight star does not keep up with the Hollywood social scene and often fails to recognise fellow actors, so he had no idea who Teresa was when they met during filming of the new Terrence Malick movie.

Terrence deliberately failed to introduce Christian to his co-stars, so the actor thought Teresa was a real exotic dancer when they met during a scene set in a strip club.

"Even when they were actors, Terry would still tell me they weren't," Christian tells the London Evening Standard. "We were filming in a strip club, and Teresa Palmer's there in her little silver hotpants and I'm asking her how long she'd been dancing for? Does she enjoy it? What got her into it? I had no idea that she was an actress until about a week after working with her. Suddenly I saw a billboard with her face on it and I went 'What?'"

Christian goes on to reveal acclaimed director Terrence also kept the cast guessing about the script, which would change from day-to-day.

"I didn't know where we were half the time," he adds. "Terry would go, 'That looks good, let's stop. Go and talk to that bloke.' Sometimes the bloke was an actor; sometimes not... Everyone else always got more material than I did. Terry called it 'torpedoing'... I never got any pages at all. I would just arrive and he would say, 'Deal with it and see what happens'."
