Rocker Chrissie Hynde has added her name to a petition calling for an end to animal-tested cosmetics.
The Pretenders frontwoman has joined other celebrities, including Ricky Gervais, Leona Lewis, Dame Judi Dench and Ke$ha, by adding her name to the Humane Society International's Cruelty-Free 2013 campaign.
She penned the 200,000th signature on the petition, urging consumers to vote with their feet and refuse to buy products which have been tested on animals.
Hynde says, "After all these years of consumers and animal welfare groups trying to enforce a ban, many cosmetic companies are still testing on animals. Please check for a cruelty-free guarantee before buying a product and if it is not stated on the label, put it back on the shelf!
"Only by doing so can we see an end to the grisly practice of animal testing. Some of the biggest and most heavily advertised brands are still the guilty ones - don't let them deceive you! Check online with the Humane Society International if in doubt."
