The Jurassic World star didn't always receive positive reactions to his salesman efforts, but always got top marks for his job performance - something he took with him when he started auditioning in Tinseltown.

"I was great at that and that's why I believe in God and the divine," he tells Vanity Fair magazine. "I feel like it was perfectly planned.

"People talk about rejection in Hollywood. I'm like, 'You're outta your f**kin' mind. Did you ever have someone sic their dog on you at an audition?'"

He explains that was just one customer's response when he was selling coupons for "things like oil changes or trips to a spa".

And while working at a restaurant in Hawaii, he insists God looked down on him because he met famous actor and pot advocate Tommy Chong's daughter, Rae Dawn Chong, who set him up with an audition for a comedy, called Cursed Part 3. He ended up with a leading role.

Though it was "the worst movie" Chris had ever seen, the role earned him a manager, and he believes his A-list path was set then and there.

"The whole reason that movie came along was just so I could be brought to Hollywood."
