Chicago director Rob Marshall has signed up to take over from STEVEN SPIELBERG when epic movie MEMORIES OF A GEISHA goes before the cameras next month (SEP04).

Spielberg initially took charge of the film adaptation of Arthur Golden's bestselling novel of the same name but was forced to step down due to a busy schedule.

But Spielberg will remain onboard as producer of the project, which will be filmed in Japan and Los Angeles and feature Crouching Tiger, HIDDEN DRAGON actress Zhang Ziyi and THE LAST SAMURAI star Ken Watanabe.
