Movie funnyman Chevy Chase is looking for acting work again after calling off his nine-year retirement.

The THREE AMIGOS star unofficially quit showbusiness to become a stay-at-home dad for his three daughters and now he admits he has been "given permission to get back into it".

He explains, "I wanted to move my children to the north east(of America) for their educations and get them through puberty and adolescence.

"They are now past that period but they need mom and dad throughout that period, no question about it. One person can't do it alone."

Chase, who makes his big screen return this year (05) in Naomi Watts' new Hollywood farce ELLIE PARKER and ensemble comedy FUNNY MONEY, feels his self-imposed time off has made him a better actor.

He adds, "All the bad habits are gone. I find my acting is a lot better than it used to be."
