The Girls Aloud beauty - who was unceremoniously dumped from the judging panel of the media mogul's US 'x factor' - had a chance to get her revenge by detonating an explosive which blasted a life size model of Simon into bits as she continued her morale boosting visit to Helmand province.
Cheryl also took the opportunity to mock Simon, joking: "His head needed to be a lot bigger and the trousers could have done with being a lot higher.
"It was nice to hold the cards for a change - this moment will live in my memory for a long time. They sprang it on me. I had no idea Simon the dummy was going to be blown up. It was good to see everyone having a laugh."
Cheryl tucked into a hearty breakfast with soldiers at base camp Camp Bastion and troops admitted they were surprised to see the petite star enjoying the meal of eggs, bacon, sausages, mushrooms and baked beans.
One soldier said: "We were amazed that she was happy to muck in and have a decent feed. She's a proper Northern girl who likes her grub."
Task Force Helmand spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Tim Purbrick added to the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Cheryl has been fantastic. Nothing is too much trouble for her. It feels like she has met practically everyone on the base."
