Pop superstar Cher is eager to return to the big screen in a remake of Rosalind Russell's comedy drama Auntie Mame.

The Believe hitmaker, who won an Oscar for her role in 1987's Moonstruck, reveals she's obsessed with the 1958 film, about an orphan who is sent to live with his free-spirited aunt, and the singer/actress would love to tackle the title role made famous by Russell.

She tells Us Weekly magazine, "I have watched the 1958 film Auntie Mame, with Rosalind Russell, at least 100 times. I would love to play that part in a remake."

Cher, 67, has only signed up for three acting jobs since 1999, including a leading role alongside Christina Aguilera in 2010 musical Burlesque.
