CHAZ BONO, aka Chastity Bono, the daughter of pop-star Cher who recently underwent a sex change, still gets referred to as a woman by her mother. In an interview with Vanity Fair, CHER said she's finding it hard to get used to the idea of calling Chaz - 'him'.
In mid 2008, Bono began a female-to-male gender transition, and the process was documented for a two-part Entertainment Tonight feature in June 2009. In May of this year, Bono legally changed gender and name, and there are rumours of a documentary for the Oprah Winfrey network. When speaking about her daughter's change, CHER said, "If I woke up tomorrow in a guy's body, I would kick and scream and cry and ..rob a bank, because I cannot see myself as anything but who I am - a girl. I would not take it as well as Chaz has. I couldn't imagine it". However, the 64-year-old admits she is still getting used to the idea, saying, "Well, she's a very smart girl - boy! This is where I get into trouble".
41-year-old Chaz is a writer, actor, and musician, and is the only child of Sonny Bono and CHER. She is a leading advocate for lesbian, gay, transsexual and transgender rights.
