Charlton Heston, Frank Sinatra and Cary Grant's stars are among 60 honours that have been removed from the Hollywood Walk of Fame to make way for a new hotel-shopping-housing project. Many of the stars disintegrated as soon as they were lifted from the ground, but the bosses of the construction firm behind the new building work insist the brass plaques in each star are intact and the accolades will be replaced once the project is complete in 2009.
