Sir Norman Wisdom, who may have been the last living link to oldtime slapstick film comedies, has died in the Isle of Man at the age of 95. An obituary appearing in today's (Tuesday) Guardian newspaper noted that Charlie Chaplin once referred to Wisdom as his favorite clown and remarked that he regarded him as his only serious rival. When he received his knighthood from Queen Elizabeth in 2000, he brought laughter to the dignatories when he pretended to trip on the presentation stage.
