Pop star Charli XCX's parents were so cool when she was growing up they drove her to her first rave - and stayed for the party.

The Break The Rules singer reveals she attended her first all-nighter in Hackney, London, when she was 16 and her folks insisted on driving her to the club.

But, against their daughter's wishes, they decided to stay for the fun.

Charlie, real name Charlotte Aitchison, tells The Sunday Telegraph's Stella magazine, "They were cool - my dad was really into it. We arrived at, like, 9pm and they just stood at the back of the sweatbox with all the hipsters... and we didn't leave until 7am."

And her mum may have saved a young revellers life when she took too much ketamine: "She helped someone out of a k-hole."
