The Hallmark Hall of Fame Christmas special, A Dog Named Christmas, effectively challenged NBC's Sunday Night Football as it averaged 12.26 million viewers Sunday. SNF, meanwhile averaged 15.76 million viewers, winning each of its half-hour periods between 8 00 p.m. and 11 00 p.m. However, CBS's numbers were significantly above those for its regular series in the two-hour period, Three Rivers and Cold Case. Earlier in the evening, Fox attracted 16.71 million viewers for its football overrun at 7 00 p.m.
