Since ratings for cable TV shows are released after those for broadcast network shows, it's too early to tell how the final episode of Breaking Bad -- and its presumed massive (for cable) audience -- affected the primetime ratings of ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox Sunday night. A quick glance at the preliminary numbers released by Nielsen Research indicates that most of those networks' shows, new and old, were down from a year ago in their respective time periods -- even NBC's Sunday Night Football, which, according to TVbytheNumbers, was down a whopping 29 percent from a week ago. Nevertheless, many viewers presumably recorded the Breaking Bad finale so that they could watch the live game between the New England Patriots and the Atlanta Falcons -- something that could boost the live-plus-three-day ratings for the AMC drama.
