Cate Blanchett thinks having a good marriage is down to ''luck''.

The 'Blue Jasmine' actress has been married to theatre director Andrew Upton - with who she has sons Dashiell, 12, Roman, nine, and Ignatius, five - for 16 years but she doesn't think sharing an industry with her spouse makes any difference to their union.

She said: ''I don't think it's more difficult for actors to have a good marriage than anyone.

''I think in the end a really important component of any relationship is honesty - and it also comes back to luck.''

However, the Australian star admitted she feels ''fortunate'' to have such an ''amazing'' husband.

She told Britain's HELLO! magazine: ''I'm incredibly fortunate to have met the intelligent, generous, risk-taking, stimulating man to whom I am married. He's really amazing.''

Cate says she lives in a happy household, and she never takes work home with her because her kids are ''not interested''.

She said: ''I don't take my work home - my children are not interested in me bringing home the characters I play.

''My boys are great kids, hilariously funny. We laugh a lot when we're at home.''
