The actors, who star in acclaimed new movie Manchester by the Sea, will be feted for "forging their own path, taking artists' risks and making a significant and unique contribution to film" at the Arlington Theatre on 5 February (17).

"Throughout their respective careers, Casey and Michelle have impressed audiences with distinct, personal roles, and we are excited to bring them together to honor their sublime performances in Manchester by the Sea," a statement from SBIFF executive director Roger Durling reads.

Previous recipients of the accolade include The Theory of Everything's Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones, The Wolf of Wall Street's Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio, and Inglourious Basterds' Christoph Waltz.

The news comes days after Affleck picked up a Best Actor honour for his role in the film at the Critics' Choice Awards. He also claimed Golden Globes and Screen Actors Award nominations this week (beg12Dec16).
