The sale of movie great Cary Grant's remote home in the California desert is creating interest among sailors and soldiers who enjoyed the film star's hospitality 50 years ago. Patriotic Grant opened up his lavish Palm Springs estate to members of the US forces and their families returning from active duty in the 1950s and 1960s and now the soldiers and sailors are using the pad's sale to take another look at the desert retreat. Realtor RAJ BESHARAT says, "The current owner has been getting visits from soldiers and sailors who spent time there when they came back from serving in the armed forces overseas. "Cary Grant would rent the place out to these guys and their wives. It was his way of doing his bit." The exclusive five bedroom estate is now on the market for $4 million (GBP2.3 million).
