NBC acknowledged on Wednesday that its hit music competition show The Voice encountered issues with some of the online votes cast on Tuesday. During Wednesday's telecast host Carson Daly said that the show's producers noticed some inconsistencies with this week's texting and online voting. Neither he nor the network nor the producers of the show provided details about the problems. The network issued a news release saying: On this week's episodes of The Voice, we encountered issues with the systems used for online and SMS voting. We are addressing both issues, and in an abundance of caution are not counting the votes that may have been affected. Telescope, the independent company that administers voting for the show, has certified that removing those votes does not affect the outcome for any team. In another surprise, The Voice was roundly beaten by American Idol on Wednesday. Overnight ratings indicated that Idol attracted 10.82 million viewers to The Voice's 8.77. Idol also edged out The Voice among viewers 18-49.
