Country music's most famous female stars including Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, Loretta Lynn and Martina McBride were honoured at a special tribute show in Nevada on Monday night (05Apr11).
The Girls' Night Out: Superstar Women of Country concert was organised by bosses at the Academy of Country Music and was held just a day after the Acm Awards in Las Vegas on Sunday (03Apr11).
The Monday night (04Apr11) show at the Mgm Grand Garden Arena in Paradise, Nevada also feted country duo The Judds, Reba MCEntire and Sugarland's Jennifer Nettles. It featured video tributes and live performances from a number of male stars, and duets with the honourees. Lynn was unable to attend the ceremony in person as she is recovering from knee surgery but she taped a video message from her home in Tennessee to be played at the event,
Highlights of the concert included Underwood's duet with Vince Gill on How Great Thou Art, a Rascal Flatts tribute to MCEntire and performances from John Fogerty, Ronnie Dunn and Blake Shelton.
Lambert, who was the toast of this year's (11) Acm Awards with four trophies, admits the evening was an emotional experience for her: "I almost cried the whole time. Everybody's tribute was really emotional because it was really cool to celebrate women."
The show was recorded and will air in the U.S. on 22 April (11).
