The Aussie native is heading Down Under for six pre-Christmas shows in December (16), and he'll be taking an old pal with him.

Carrie teamed up with Keith for the pair's Love Pain & the Whole Crazy Carnival Ride tour eight years ago (08), and the two country stars recently hooked up to perform a cover of Tom Petty and Stevie Nicks' Stop Draggin' My Heart Around during the American Idol series finale last week (07Apr16).

"I've always loved singing with her," Urban said in a statement.

He's also hoping he and Carrie will be able to perform a new song they wrote together when he heads home for the arena dates in Adelaide, Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney and Brisbane.

"We had written this song, The Fighter, that needed a female voice and Carrie's voice immediately came to mind," he added. "I can't wait for people to hear it - and hope that we get to do it live."

The duet will feature on Urban's new album, Ripcord.

The two-week run of Australian shows will end a very busy year for new mum Carrie, who has just added extra dates to her sold out Storyteller tour.
