Carrie Fisher, the American actress best known for playing the Star Wars character 'Princess Leia', has called herself "fat" and said that she was hurt when bloggers claimed she looked like Elton John. The 54-year-old was speaking after being announced as the new spokesperson for diet organisation 'Jenny Craig', reports People Magazine. She also admitted that her weight problem was the result of eating junk food after her father Eddie Fisher died last September.
Fisher will now take one of Jenny Craig's diets herself and when discussing her weight she said, "I'm fat. All the clothes in my closet belong to another chick. They have to make a new alphabet for my bra size". The actress also noted that she began gaining weight three years ago after hitting the road for her one-woman show 'Wishful Drinking', saying, "I would just graze, but I didn't do it healthy - it was like putting on the feed bag". However, the STAR WARS actress claims that surfing the Internet and finding articles about her weight was the main reason for wanting to shed the pounds, saying, "I look on the Internet and they say, 'Whatever happened to Carrie Fisher? She used to be so hot and now she looks like Elton John. I was really hurt".
Fisher's made an EMMY AWARD nominated guest-appearance on the sitcom '30 Rock' back in 2007 and she appeared in the seventh season of hit US show 'Entourage' last summer.
