Mexican music legends LOS TIGRES DEL NORTE are to be honoured with the annual Icon accolade at the upcoming Broadcast Music, Inc (BMI) Latin Awards in Las Vegas.
Latino music stars will pay tribute to the group - longtime leaders of the norteno music genre - at the 14th annual prizegiving on 23 March (07).
Los Tigres Del Norte will join a list of BMI Latin Icons that includes JUAN LUIS GUERRA and Carlos Santana.
The group formed in 1968. They are the longest-running and most influential norteno act. They're renowned for their 'corridos,' which depict timeless stories of Mexican people and culture, as well as the lives and struggles of Hispanic immigrants in the United States.
Los Tigres have recorded more than 55 albums and achieved worldwide sales in excess of 32 million copies.
