Carla Bruni, the French first lady, is expecting a baby-boy with Nicolas Sarkozy according to a friend of the President who spoke with Le Soir. Rumours of Carla Bruni's pregnancy first arose after the former model responded to a question from a Le Parisien reporter, saying, "My lips are sealed to protect something".
Advertising tycoon Jacques Seguela told the Brussels daily, "I have it on good authority that the baby will a boy". The news comes just a week after Sarkozy's 83-year-old father told reporters that he was "mad with joy" that the couple were expecting, an announcement that reportedly incensed the French president. This will be Bruni's second son - she has a 10-year-old from a previous relationship - and Sarkozy's fourth. During her interview last month, Bruni said, "I would love to speak woman-to-woman of my family life, my personal dreams, of the details of certain things. Moreover I am very talkative. But here, in a way, I have my mouth sewn shut". The 43-year-old recently made the foray into acting, appearing in Woody Allen's well-received movie 'Midnight in Paris' which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this month. Bruni is also a singer-songwriter and has released three full-length albums. News of the pregnancy comes as Sarkozy experiences dwindling popularity in the polls and he faces re-election in 2012.
Carla Bruni first met the French president at a dinner party in November 2007. After dating for several months they were married at the Elysee Palace in Paris on 2nd February 2008.
