Carine Roitfeld will launch her own magazine in September 2012.

The former French Vogue editor has announced plans for the publication - which will be printed four times each year - and revealed it will launch with an English edition.

She told Dazed Digital: "I am putting a dream team together to make a magazine. It's an ambition of mine to make a really iconic magazine that's fresh and exciting.

"There is no value in it being in French, it needs to be international and in English. It will be something less frequent than a monthly to make it more iconic, more collectable. I want to make something really beautiful, chic, different. I have to find a new way, so I am dreaming about it and working it out."

While Carine joked she could follow in Oprah Winfrey's footsteps by calling the magazine after herself, she admitted she would be happier to work behind the scenes.

She said: "I could call it Carine Roitfeld in the manner of Oprah Winfrey, and put myself on the cover every month like she does, but I'm not sure if this is what people want. At the moment they see me a lot. I want to disappear."
