Hip-hop star Cam'ron is recovering at home after he was wounded during what appeared to be a failed carjacking attempt.

The HEY MA rapper, 29, was driving away from Washington DC nightclub H20, where he had attended a party hosted by SEAN 'DIDDY' COMBS, just after 2am on Sunday (23OCT05) when he was approached by an armed gang in a Ford Expedition sport-utility vehicle (SUV) at a traffic lights stop.

When the group demanded he hand over his vehicle, Cam'ron refused to co-operate, prompting an assailant to fire a round of bullets into his Lambourghini, injuring the star in both arms.

The New York rapper, real name CAMERON GILES, was taken to Howard University Hospital, where he received treatment before being released yesterday afternoon.

After he left the hospital surrounded by his entourage, Cam'ron said, "I got shot three times and my album comes out November 22.

"It was a sloppy job on their part. They didn't get anything. I still got my car and my jewellery."

His manager JOSEPH 'BIG JOE' SHERMAN says, "It was a botched carjacking."
