Movie-maker Cameron Crowe was thrilled to cast Kirsten Dunst as his heroine in new movie ELIZABETHTOWN, because he regretted rejecting her for the starring role in Almost Famous.

The part of PENNY LANE went to Kate Hudson, despite Dunst's earnest audition, and Crowe has since marvelled at the SPIDERMAN star's meteoric rise to stardom.

Crowe, whose other films include Vanilla Sky and Jerry Maguire, says, "Kirsten Dunst came in for Almost Famous and didn't quite work out for that movie, so it was good to hook up with her on this one."
