Hit British film Calendar Girls is to be resurrected on the legendary London stage, following the success of the THE FULL MONTY spin-off.
Makers of the DAME HELEN MIRREN-starring comedy - which focuses on 12 middle-aged villagers who pose naked for a charity calendar - are in negotiations with theatre chiefs to adapt the story for the West End stage.
And producers are confident the success of film-to-stage favourites The Full Monty and Billy Elliot has paved the way for similar hit movies to enjoy renewed life as live shows.
A spokeswoman for Calendar Girls film distributor BUENA VISTA says, "It is something we are discussing internally at the moment. It's nothing we can say a whole lot about as yet becasue it's early days.
"If you look at The Full Monty or Billy Elliot, both of those took three or four years to adapt from screen to stage, and Calendar Girls only came out last year (03). But it is certainly something we are discussing."05/05/2004 17:24
