Hip-hop star Busta Rhymes is preparing to sign a deal with Dr Dre's AFTERMATH ENTERTAINMENT label after leaving J RECORDS.

The Dangerous rapper has decided to join forces with former NWA star Dre after being friends with him for years.

Busta's manager CHRIS LIGHTY says, "We haven't signed the papers yet, but the deal is done. They have been working together for his album for the past few weeks."

Their best-known collaboration together, Break Ya Neck, was featured on Busta's Genesis album, which also spawned the hit single PASS THE COURVOISIER.

The follow-up, IT AIN'T SAFE NO MORE, was a commercial disappointment compared to other releases in the rapper's catalogue and was his last album release for J Records.

Busta, real name TREVOR SMITH, is set to release his untitled new album in the summer (04).
