Country singer BONNIE OWENS died on Monday (24APR06) following a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was 76. The Oklahoma-born star was best known for the work she did with her ex-husbands, country music legend Buck Owens, who died last month (25MAR06), and Merle Haggard. She married her third husband FRED MCMILLAN after divorcing Haggard in 1978. Owens remained modest about her musical achievements despite recording six solo albums and two duet albums with Haggard. She once said, "I was a follower, Buck and Merle were leaders. I did what was needed and I did what I could."
