The X-Men moviemaker hit headlines last year (14) when Egan claimed he was molested by Singer when he was a teenager, before dropping the charges when the director's lawyer called them "completely without merit".

Editors at TMZ.com report that Egan has now pleaded guilty to securities and wire fraud charges after allegedly inducing victims to enter into fictitious investment contracts.

News of his indictment surfaced late last year (14) and reports now state Egan has struck up a deal with prosecutors in North Carolina stating that he must repay $304,860 (£190,537) to avoid a jail term.
