Blockbuster is making the most out of its privileged status as the only major video store/kiosk operator renting Warner Bros. and Universal home video titles beginning the day they are released. "Rent It While It's Still a New Release," Blockbuster is trumpeting in its ads, alluding to the fact that online renter Netflix and kiosk operator Redbox have agreed to wait four weeks before making such titles as The Blind Side and Sherlock Holmes available to its customers. Home Media magazine noted Monday that during the first week that The Blind Side became available at Blockbuster stores and Blockbuster Express kiosks, it was their top-rental. The promotion has thus far not helped boost Blockbuster's stock which remains stuck at about 26 cents.
