Superstar Britney Spears is reportedly chasing the lead role in Broadway, New York musical My Fair Lady.

The TOXIC singer, 23, is desperate to win credibility as an actress after her movie debut CROSSROADS bombed at the box office, and she deems singing character Eliza Doolittle the perfect means to show off her talent.

The challenging role - made famous by Audrey Hepburn on the big screen in 1964 - would test Spears' language skills should she sign up for the part, because it requires her to speak with a cockney London accent at the beginning and an upper class voice at the end.

Meanwhile, reports claim the blonde superstar is hoping to follow in HALLE BERRY's footsteps to be the next James Bond girl, and has met with Bond producers in an attempt to convince them to cast her as the sexy villain.
