Britney Spears' lawyers have been awarded more time to present evidence in her $20 million (GBP11.8 million) libel action against Us Weekly, after the American magazine filed a motion to have the case dismissed. The TOXIC singer began legal proceedings against Us Weekly in December (05) after an article claimed she feared a sex tape allegedly made with husband Kevin Federline would leak onto the internet. Spears and Federline maintain the story is "bogus", but a spokesperson for the US publication insists the story came from "a credible source" and the magazine "stands by its reporting". The next hearing is scheduled to take place on 3 May (06) in Los Angeles. Spears and Us Magazine first clashed in 2004 after photographs of her honeymoon in Fiji were published against her will.
