Britney Spears' fiance Kevin Federline failed to be there to welcome his son into the world earlier this month (JUL04) - he arrived 30 minutes after the birth.

On 20 July, Federline's ex-girlfriend Shar Jackson gave birth to KALEB MICHAEL JACKSON FEDERLINE - named after Paul Walker's character in THE SKULLS and Federline's father MICHAEL - in Orange County, California, after scheduling an induced labour, which lasted almost eight hours.

And while the dancer was expected to be there for support, he arrived when his child was already born.

Jackson - who also has a two-year-old daughter with Federline called KORI - tells US WEEKLY, "Kevin wasn't there for the birth he showed up 30 minutes later.

"After the delivery was said and done, he came in. I looked up and he was in tears. He just put his hand on my leg and said, 'Thank you.' It was really sweet, like the Kevin that I knew. Since then, we've been talking briefly almost every day. Kevin's still an excellent dad. But, you know, it's different."

But Jackson isn't surprised that she didn't receive a congratulatory card from Spears, adding, "What would she put on a card - 'Hey you're having my man's kid'? it might be a little odd.

"But Britney's going to be part of my kids' lives, and I'm going to get to know her. We're going to sit down and talk, woman to woman. And she can meet Kaleb - but she's going to have to come to us, because he's not going anywhere for a while!"
