Britney Spears ' ex-husband Jason Alexander has slammed the superstar's latest engagement to former agent Jason Trawick as fake. Jason notoriously tied the knot with Britney in Las Vegas before having their marriage annulled after just 55 hours.
Trawick became the singer's manager following her public breakdown in 2007, and the couple began to get closer - eventually announcing their engagement last week. Though friends and family congratulated the pair on their good news, Alexander is less than impressed, claiming the engagement is some sort of publicity stunt and telling US Weekly magazine, "I know everyone wants me to be happy about this, but I am not.If you look at all the pictures between them there is no connection. They look like they are going through the motions". Jason's accusations mirror those aimed at Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries following their disastrous marriage which lasted just 72 days despite a lavish $10 million wedding being filmed for the famous family's reality show. Despite Alexander's doubts, Britney's other ex-husband Kevin Federline has come out in support of the engagement, saying it is "a step in the right direction" for the once troubled singer. The former backup dancer is father to Spears' sons Preston, 6, and Jayden, 5, and says the boys love being around Trawick, saying, "I think he's a great guy. The kids speak highly of him. Her family loves him".
Britney married childhood friend Jason at The Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas on January 3, 2004. They subsequently had the marriage annulled after the singer claimed she "lacked understanding of her actions".
