Britney Spears is sick of being told she's too sexy - because she's been hearing the same criticism since the start of her career.

The 21-year-old BOYS singer, who has captured headlines in recent months for kissing Madonna at the MTV Video Music Awards and posing semi-nude in magazines, ignores snipes at her new 'raunchy' image - because people said the same when she burst onto the scene as a virginal teenager in 1999.

She says, "That's such an irony. People are like, 'You were so innocent, da da da da,' and all that. And I'm like, 'No, I wasn't. You guys said I was too sexual when I first came out with BABY ONE MORE TIME.' You can't win, man. You know what I mean?"

And, staying faithful to her hit track I'M NOT A GIRL, NOT YET A WOMAN, the Louisiana native also scoffs at the general consensus that she's a fully-grown woman.

She explains, "I think you never grow up. If anyone says that they're completely grown, what's the fun in that? Every day you want to learn something new. Every day you want to challenge yourself and get better. I'm not grown up and I'm not a little girl. I just am."
