Britney Spears' lawyer has said a financial settlement has almost been reached with the aggrieved party in her parking offence case, according to reports.
Her lawyer Michael Flanagan told People magazine that the Baby One More Time star had offered $1,000 (£488) in compensation to the owner of the car which she had an accident with.
The troubled pop princess was fingerprinted and booked at a Los Angeles Police station a few days ago over the incident, which saw her leave a parking lot after an accident with Kim Robard-Rifkin's stationary car.
She faces two misdemeanour charges of hit-and-run causing property damage and driving without a valid licence. Spears' attorney says the hit-and-run offence is likely to dropped when the owner of the car receives compensation.
He also told People that he was hopeful the other charge faced by the star could be downgraded to a traffic infraction, as the star now has a valid permit to drive in California.
Spears, who is also involved in court proceedings for the custody of her two children, was told yesterday that she could not see her sons until she complied with court orders to undergo regular drug treatment and parenting classes.
