Troubled pop princess Britney Spears has reportedly stepped back from the brink of her first comeback gig.
The 25-year-old has had a tough time recently, shaving off her lovely locks and dipping in and out of rehab after splitting from husband Kevin Federline.
It seemed that she might be on the road to recovery and was reportedly planning a comeback gig at a Los Angeles nightclub famed for its raunchy burlesque shows.
Publicists said she had spent much of Tuesday last week rehearsing with four dancers before Wednesday's performance.
But it seems that something prevented her from going ahead with the gig possibly "management difficulties".
"She came on stage during rehearsal, looking very hot, with four backup dancers and sang three songs," club owner Ivan Kane said.
"They ran through the set several times, the choreography was smokin' and she sounded great," he added.
Spears has scored five UK number ones, most recently 2004's Toxic and Everytime.
