Britney Spears has reportedly said sorry to photographers she set upon with an umbrella in an infamous incident that occurred following her marriage break-up.
The pop princess was pictured earlier this year apparently attacking an SUV with a brolly outside the home of her estranged husband Kevin Federline.
In a handwritten note, supposedly written by the singer, Britney apologises to gossip website X17 for the encounter with photographers.
The ironic message published on the website reads: "I want to apologise for the past incident with the umbrella. I was preparing a character for a possible movie role where the husband doesn't play his part so they swap places.
"Unfortunately I didn't get the part, I'm sorry I got all carried away with my role!"
Britney, whose bizarre behaviour has been the subject of much media attention since her split with Federline, is meanwhile struggling to get her music career back on track.
Her spokesperson Leslie Sloane Zelnik told US magazine Life & Style
last month that the launch of Britney's new album, which had been due for release later this year, had been pushed back until sometime in 2008.
