Troubled pop star Britney Spears has been reunited with her sons for the first time since her visiting rights were suspended.

Elliot Mintz, a spokesman for Spears' ex-husband Kevin Federline, says she spent about three hours on Saturday with one-year-old Jayden James and two-year-old Sean Preston.

Mintz refused to say where the reunion took place or who else was there.

Kevin Federline's attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, said on Friday both parents had agreed to a revision of a court order which had stripped the pop star of her visitation rights.

The 26-year-old lost her rights to visit her children after refusing to hand them back to their father after a visit, resulting in the police being called to her house.

After the incident, Britney and her estate were placed under the temporary conservatorship of her father James and the singer was briefly hospitalised.

Britney must still undergo a court-ordered evaluation, the report from which must be turned in ten days prior to the hearing. The evaluation will be crucial in determining Britney's readiness to care for her children, according to Kaplan.
