A judge in California has dismissed hit and run charges against Britney Spears.
The Baby One More Time star faced two misdemeanour charges over an incident in which she left a parking lot after bumping into an unattended vehicle.
While the judge has cleared her of the hit-and-run counts, the singer has pleaded not guilty to a separate charge of driving without a valid licence for California.
It was previously reported that the driver of the car hit by Spears, Kim Robard-Rifkin, had been paid £1,000 ($487) in damages to settle the issue.
Spears, who did not attend the hearing, has been ordered to appear before the court again on November 26th.
The singer, who obtained a valid Californian driving licence after the accident, is likely to face a tougher time over the other charge against her as prosecutors argue for the star to be punished.
Reports suggest the prosecution want a term of probation and a fine to be imposed on the pop princess. They believe that the star's current possession of her licence does not excuse her from being involved in the earlier accident.
A hearing into her child custody battle with ex-husband Kevin Federline is also due to take place today. Spears is trying to regain custody of her children after losing the right to keep her sons as a result of failing to comply with a judge's orders.
