Pop's displaced princess Britney Spears is planning to record a duet with onetime love Justin Timberlake in a bid to revive her career.

After a lacklustre 2002, the BOYS songstress is calling on the talents of her golden boy ex - who shares the same record label JIVE as her.

In contrast with Britney's recent downturn, Justin is pop's new prince, and he is expected to go into the studio with the OOPS...I DID IT AGAIN girl once his current British tour is over.

A member of Justin's entourage told British tabloid The Sun, "Britney is desperate to kick-start her career. She's had a disastrous year with lots of bad publicity.

"She knows she needs to win back the fans and reckons Justin is the one to help her.

"They're both busy so working out a date when they can both be in the studio at the same time is proving difficult.

"One solution is to get them record their parts separately to be put together later by engineers.

"Justin is Jive's trump card at the moment and they want to get the most out of him."

Britney and Justin dated for three-and-a-half years until they split last May (02).
