Bristol Palin will be treated like any other student if she applies to Arizona State University.

The 20-year-old 'Dancing With The Stars' contestant is reportedly considering the university - which has a strong communications programme - but school authorities say they won't give her any preferential treatment. spoke with a representative from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism about how the school would treat Sarah Palin's daughter if she did apply.

The representative said: "If Bristol's application does come across our table we will treat it just like everyone else's and thoroughly look it over. But we can't confirm or deny anything right now."

Bristol has recently purchased a five bedroom house nearby in Maricopa for $172,000 for herself and her two-year-old son Tripp.

The property is in a development called Cobblestone Farms which was built in 2006 and first purchased for $329,560.

The previous owner of the house, Michael Smith, said he wasn't sure why Bristol was buying a house in Arizona - the same state her mom's former running mate, John McCain, is a senator.

He said: "She seems like a nice girl. We're excited for her."

"It's not about glitz and glamour, but about quality of life. I think she bought in the best neighborhood that Maricopa has to offer.
