Bristol Palin, the 20-year-old daughter of Sarah Palin and recent finalist on Dancing With The Stars, has denied rumours that she was forced to appear on the show by her mother, reports Reuters. Recent speculation had suggested that the former Governor of Alaska may have pressurised Bristol to become a contestant on the show.
But in an open letter on her Facebook page, Palin said, "Let me be blunt: my mom did not 'force' me to go on DWTS. She did not ask me either. The show approached me. I thought about it. I made the decision". In a blog post last week, comedienne and fellow dancer Margaret Cho had written, "the only reason Bristol was on the show was because Sarah Palin forced her to do it", she went on to refer to the 20-year-old as a 'friend'.
There was little friendly about Bristol's Facebook retort however, she added, "Let me shamelessly steal from 'Saturday Night Live' 'Really, Margaret? Really? Is this type of hurtful and false narrative that people promote to make my mom look bad". She ended by saying that if Cho understood Conservative politics, she would embrace them "faster than KD Lang at an Indigo Girls concert". This closing remark has aroused concerns as the artists mentioned are openly gay, and Cho is openly bisexual.
