Actress Bridget Moynahan has thrown her support behind a poverty awareness campaign by pledging to live on just $1.50 (Gbp.94) a day for a week.

The Blue Bloods star became involved with the Global Poverty Project last year (13) and is set to participate in the initiative with four of her friends next month (May14).

She tells U.S. breakfast show Today, "I have a great team leader... and we've pooled our money; we have a very strict diet, but I pushed them to make sure they were very healthy meals. So I think that is something I found challenging, going into a grocery store and still having a healthy diet on this kind of money. You do have to plan ahead."

Moynahan is now asking the public to take part in the campaign to help raise awareness on poverty issues.
