British fans of literary heroine BRIDGET JONES want Kate Winslet to take over the role if RENEE ZELLWEGER sticks to her decision not to make a third movie.

Zellweger won acclaim for movie adaptation Bridget Jones's Diary but critics aren't so enthusiastic about sequel BRIDGET JONES: THE EDGE OF REASON.

And the Texan, who had to pull off an English accent for the films, insists she won't be returning to the role, explaining, "I'd be quite content to live my life without another one."

But fans are keen to see the hapless Helen Fielding creation live on on the big screen and they've picked TITANIC star Winslet to take over the role.

In a survey to find the next Bridget by British satellite channel SKY MOVIES, the actress beat out Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston.
