R'n'B singer Brian McKnight has a great problem with dating - the women he meets believe he's perfect.

The newly-divorced star says the females he comes across seem to think he's the man he portrays in his music.

He explains, "It's a problem because women think that just because I write this stuff, I'm the perfect man.

"Of course, I'm not. I just write about it. I can't tell you how many times I've heard, 'Well, you're nothing like your music.'"

But McKnight should count himself lucky for the attention - when he was growing up he was hardly the females' favourite.

He adds, "From the first grade through the eighth grade, my mother dressed me in HUSH PUPPIES and bow tie, assuring the fact that no woman would ever talk to me.

"When I got into high school and started getting good at sports, the girls started liking me. By 11th grade I was the man."
