QUEEN star Brian May is planning a candlelight tour to raise funds for endangered big cats.

The guitar great is teaming up with Kerry Ellis, the unknown singer he picked to play Meat in Queen musical We Will Rock You a decade ago, for a series of unplugged Born Free gigs.

The intimate concerts will raise awareness of the work of the Born Free Foundation, which works to protect lions in Africa.

To launch the British tour, May, a keen animal rights activist, and Ellis have re-recorded the theme to 1966 film Born Free.

May says, "Over the last year, Kerry and I have been recording new material when our schedules have allowed it... Kerry's instincts as an interpreter of songs are always inspiring, and the art of arranging has always been one of my obsessions. We have found that the two of us just working live off each other can distill the very essence of a song - and that's what we hope to bring you in these dates."

May and Ellis have hit the road together before - their Anthems: The Tour concerts were big hits last year (11).

The new trek will run from 5 November to 19 November (12).
