Queen star Brian May found himself in the middle of a political row in Wales on Wednesday (23Mar11) as he continued his crusade to save badgers from a planned cull.
The rocker is the brains behind the Save Me campaign, which aims to raise awareness about the plight of badgers following the announcement of an extermination plan by Welsh officials, who are keen to combat the spread of bovine tuberculosis.
He attended a debate at the National Assembly for Wales in Cardiff, and remained defiant in his campaign, insisting, "I am prepared to fight this all the way."
May tells Bbc Wales, "This is a pointless piece of lunacy and it baffles me... It makes a mockery of Welsh law in my opinion.
"The slaughter of badgers cannot prove anything. I don’t think people will want to visit a place that is splattered with the blood of animals."
The musician called for better screening, vaccination and controls in cattle farming rather than a cull of the creatures.
